15. “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” – Barbara Streisand [9-29-09]. With full orchestral back-up Babs knocks out a jazz classic with typical emotive voice.
16. “You’ve Got a Friend” – {James Taylor} – Yo La Tengo [9-8-09]. A spare acoustic , almost macabre solo effort at the 70’s singer-songwriter’s classic.
17. “Mainstreet” – [Bob Seeger} – Uncle Kracker [9-15-09]. Kid Rock’s buddy from Detroit hits a pretty draned-close ringer for the original, 70’s gritty hit.
18. “Baby, it’s Cold Outside” – Willie Nelson and Norah Jones [8-25-09] Two classic voices combine in duet to re-create this American Classic from Willie’s new (jazz) album of the same title.
19. “Blame it on the Weed” – (Jamie Foxx) -- Wayne Marshall (un-released). A reggae dancehall version of Jamie Foxx’s hip-hop smash hit praising the virtues of THC.
20. “Gotta Serve Somebody” – (Bob Dylan) – Tommy Castro [8-11-09]. Long-time rockin’ soul man taps the Memphis R&B at the bottom of this great blues track.
21. “Don’t Know Why” – {Norah Jones} – Smokey Robinson [8-25-09]. A hushed, piano bar rendition of the Norah Jones classic that captures Smokey’s soulfully sliding vocals.
22. “Can’t Find My Way Back Home” – (Loggins and Messina) – Jonah Smith [8-18-09]. With beautiful keyboards and melancholy guitar from this new pop soul/singer-songwriter from The East Coast.
23. “Ecstasy” – JJ [7-1-09]. Ripping and making addictive threads from Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop” and Will Smith’s “Miami,” Swedish electronic act JJ extols the virtues of club drug ecstasy in this haunting and atmospheric track.
24. “Zombie” – (The Cranberries) – Jay Brannan [6-30-09]. A mellow, singer-songwriter acoustic re-working of haunting and culty Irish band track.
25. “Used to Love You” – (John Legend) – Marcus Johnson [6-2-09]. R&B, smooth jazz keyboard cover with vocal reprises.
